FAA May Clear Some Electronics

Always irritates me to have to close the cover on my Kindle temporarily. I keep it in airplane mode all the time anyway.

I've ignored the power off rule for many years.

As for cell phones, they don't work at altitude anyway. As you get close to the ground, you'll be able to lock onto a tower as the cell system was originally designed. Next time you're at 35,000 ft, try to make a call. You'll get no signal, even if next to a window. I tested this flying into Las Vegas and below 5000 ft. I began to get signal for a connection. If you want to use a phone from a plane, get a sat phone and sit next to a window. Those work.
