When set to 1080i on the format I noticed it upconverts the signal to 1080i and some words are cut off on corners (SD channels) and the audio falls out of sync sometimes.

In EZ DVI mode these problems are fixed although the graphics in the channel description and the menu's look like crap because they are converted also.

Anyway to get the best of both worlds or a medium in between?

Hmm. Mine is set to EZ DVI but it automatically switches the format based on the format of the channel. Switch to SD, it goes to 480i. Switch to ESPNHD, it goes to 780p. Switch to DSCHD, it goes to 1080i. I like this, since my TV automatically adjusts the picture to match the native format (or, in the case of SD signals, it defaults to my selection of stretching the screen).

I like this, but whenever going to the guide from a 720p source such as ESPN-HD it makes the guide look funny.
