external recorder

Am wanting to buy a DVD recorder for my son. His Direct TV receiver does not have a recorder with the unit(I think). I have Dish and my unit has an aux output which I connect my external DVD recorder to(its a tuner output and I record on channel 60) Does Direct have such an aux output,if it doesnt,how would I connect the recorder to the unit. Thanks, John

You have all outputs on the D recvrs acttive, you should have Component and Composite available.
