Ok, I have the following "make your own" arrangement.

A Seagate ST3750640A 750GB PATA HD in a Galaxy Metal Gear 3507UC-Silver External Drive Enclosure (w/fan).

Did I not read somewhere that you can't have 2 usb items hooked to the VIP at once? I think I will run a usb cable from my pc to the VIP Fan.

can't have 2 usb hard drives at the same time.

I have my thermalTake fan plugged in the back and the EHD plugged in the front.

Ok, so I can use a hub so that I don't have to use the front usb port..

Dirtydan: It has been reported elsewhere that multiple drives via hubs are not supported at this point in time.

I think we all knew this, but downriver was asking about a fan already in his rear usb port.

If you're going to do this why didn't you stick with the Seagate? It works flawlessly if you power it off when not in use.

Only until it spins down again. Then you need to turn it off/on again. With the SimplTech just need to start it up once when you power up your receiver. If I plug it into the Audio Receiver I will not have to worry about spin down problems of the Seagate

WD Mybook 320gb 8mb buffer
Works fine EXCEPT:

If you do alot of FF, Advance when viewing an archived show.. there is some stuttering when play resumes. Sometimes you even have to FF a few sec, then play again to get it to stop.

Works fine on just Play.

Could be 8mb vs 16mb buffer? No such symptom on my 16mb.

Could be 8mb vs 16mb buffer? No such symptom on my 16mb.

I am sure a 16mb buffer would improve FF problem, but I doubt if internal HD in 622 has 16mb buffer??
