External Drive File Size Discrepencys

I have been archiving Csi Miami from A & E
I recorded Double Jeopardy Monday, File size 3709 MB, I recorded it a week or so ago and the file size 2906 MB... same with Driven Mondays recording 3528 MB, previous recording 2802 MB... needless to say I am keeping the bigger file size episodes...

What channel did Double Jeopordy come on? I didn't see it coming on any of the movie channels? Was it off TNT or a network HD channel?

Yeah was noticing same thing with TNT Cold Case 's... I had a 42 minute recording last night that was bigger than some of the hour recordings....

Could it be that one of those is MPeg2 and the other MPeg4?

No they are all Mpeg 4, the Originals from CBS should have been twice that size...

what you're getting is all the bits as they came down from the satellite. depending on the other channels in the mux, the compression will vary.

Recorded another one this evening... 2.8 gigs for an hour show...but I have been doing divx for a few years and have some divx HD 700 MB downloads that look pretty good...
