To find a solution to the problem of football games going over the alloted time and skewing the following shows I tried some experiments. When a program is scheduled to record, time is the trigger to start the recording process. Since all programs are offset, the selected program for recording is now not going to record fully.
As a test, I increased the end time of a test program to see if it would continue recording for 60 minutes past the 'normal' record time. When the recording did not continue during the sheduled time I hit the Stop record button. That 'Paused' the recording. I hit the Stop button again and the selection for Delete, DVR or Live TV came up. I hit Delete and the scrolling boxes displayed on the screen but did not go away in a "normal" time. I waited more time but finally gave up and hit the DVR button. I selected the program I had just tried to delete and a Black screen came up. An error message displayed Error 05 in RED.
According to tier 2 support, there is a hard drive failure.
A hard reset ( pull the plug) did not fix the 05 error.
I think extending recording time more than 5 minutes screws up the timer function but I have no way of proving it.
This is one of the 'other' problems mentioned in my first post.

I have the Amazing Race set to record 1hr extra to account for football. It works as expected. I've even shortened the time for a single event when there was no football with the no issues.

I think that it's a coincidence. Sometimes hard drives die on their own. I have a replacement hopper on it's way because of a failing drive.

Starz outage.
