Expressvu in Boston and the 2 dual-lnb dish evu sends you

Hi, Boston new user here (Zip=01760)

I finally found a place in my yard that can see both 91 and 82

91 gets a 100 signal, 82 gets a 58 signal on my birddog using an old dtv dish/lnb.

My problem is that when I hook up the evu 2 dual lnb/skew dish they send, birddog shows NO signal at all.

I have the skew (107), elev (38.7) and az (217)set correctly for pointing, but no signal on the birdog.

Then I was thinking, is the bev 82/91 2 dual lnb lnbs compatible with the birddog? Cause I remember a discussion about dish 500 not working with birddog.

I remember something about the power from the birddog not right for the newer lnb's.

Next step, I guess is plug in the 9200 and a tv directly to the dish.

I borrowed a Birdog and was not impressed with it (I know lots of people swear by it)

I found it easier to bring a laptop with USB TV tuner and my receiver outside then to use the Birdog.

Thanks Scott, but that does not answer the question....

Is the birddog compatible with the lnbs that BEV gives you these days.

It is 2 dual lnbs, connected to a sat-21 switch.

As I said, the old lnb/dish gets signals in 2 places in my yard now, but the birdog does not

Well, I finally put up a std 18" dish for 82. Got a 70 signal, connected it to my 91 with a sat-21 switch (the one that came with the bev 20" dish), the 6100 says fine.

I have not been able to get ANY signal on ANY meter from the dish that bev gave me, a 20" with dual lnb.

I set as required for Boston, skew 107, left lnb higher looking from back of dish, 38.7 el, 217 az, nothing, nada. I've moved the dish around 180 to 240, nada

I mean not a beep of anything. Put an 18" std dish on the pole, set it to 39.9 el, 210 az, signal 70, no problem. Switch it to 37 el, 223 az and 91 comes in with a 88 signal.

What could possibly be wrong with the bev-supplied dish? I really want to use it so I can replace a single lnb dish with a dual.

What could that mean

Well, I never did get any signal on the bev dual lnb dish. Signal 0, nada.

I used its sat-21 switch with a 24" and an 18" dish, and get acceptable signals. I might need a 24" for 82, as my highest signal on 82 is 67 with some at 52 or so (Same kind of readings Iceberg was showing with an 18" dish)

I need the 8-10 point increase for rain fade.

I also had a really troublesome branch pulled down yesterday, so I can move my 82 temporarily mounted dish to its real location this weekend. Hopefully, that will fix it up. This branch was blocking a perfect location in my yard in the forest from 61.5 to 119, a long, 45 foot, leaf-filled oak branch that went straight across and up and was 35 feet up. It blocked everything. And it will not be missed

With it gone, I should be able to place my dish farm (or a torridial dish system!) in one location, not all over my yard.

Dishes are cheap. I think I'll just get another 24" for 82, leave them both on 24"

Of youlive in an area where the skew is almost zero, you can do it with one 24"

(in MN, the skew if you had a 20" is like 86. 90 is straight. So I took my 24" and put the 2nd LNB next to it and vouila...80 on most TP's on 82

I installed my BEV 6100 system in early July. I was having a terrible time getting a signal from 82, but 91 was at 95-100. The on screen display then showed another signal, but said wrong satellite. My neighbor installs dishes for d* and e* so he brought his signal meter over and we were still on the wrong sat. Don't ask me which one we were on. He went and got his viewfinder. His 206 az and my 50 cent compass 206 were not close. He moved the dish and both signals came in nice and clear. He moved it left which i believe would be more east. Try that and see what happens.

Moved my dish to a temporary location with a 6 inch hole and tie wraps to verify signal now that the tree limb is gone. Getting mid 70's with an 18" dish

Not bad since I was seeing 50's, low 60's

Next is to get a 24" dish for it
