FSN Midwest will carry home opener
ST. LOUIS - All 162 St. Louis Cardinals games in 2006 will be shown on television -- on local free TV, cable or the national networks.
FSN Midwest will carry 108 regular-season games including the home opener at 3:10 p.m. April 10 against Milwaukee, the team announced this week, while WB-11 will have 41 games including the season opener at 2:05 p.m. April 3 at Philadelphia.
The Cardinals will appear on eight Fox Sports telecasts on Saturday afternoons, and five ESPN Sunday night telecasts.
FSN Midwest also will carry two spring training games.
"We are thrilled to televise 110 Cardinal games on FSN Midwest for the third straight season, including the home opener from new Busch Stadium," said Jack Donovan, general manager of the cable channel. "We look forward to bringing the excitement of the new ballpark into fans' homes, and we're pleased to offer a portion of our television schedule in high-definition."
WB-11's coverage includes most Sunday games, and one spring training game.
"We are honored to one again air upwards of 40 games on WB-11, including at least 10 in (high definition)," said Bill Lanesey, general manager of WB-11. "The Cardinals have been an outstanding partner for decades, and we anxiously anticipate the move into the new Busch Stadium."
The Cardinals' national telecasts will include Fox games May 27 at San Diego, June 3 vs. the Chicago Cubs, July 8 at Houston, July 15 vs. Los Angeles, July 29 at the Cubs, Aug. 19 at the Cubs, Aug. 26 vs. the Cubs, and Sept. 16 vs. San Francisco.
The Cards' ESPN games include April 9 at Chicago, July 3 at Atlanta, July 9 at Houston, July 17 vs. Atlanta and Sept. 22 at Houston.
A total of six spring training games will be televised: March 14 vs. the New York Yankees (ESPN), March 19 vs. Atlanta (FSN Midwest), March 20 vs. Atlanta (ESPN), March 26 vs. Florida (FSN Midwest), March 25 vs. Los Angeles (WB-11), and March 31 vs. the New York Mets. All of those are 12:05 p.m. CST starts except for the game with the Mets, which is a 7:05 p.m. CST start.
Last year, every Cardinals game but one was scheduled to be shown on TV -- a Sept. 14 game vs. Pittsburgh -- but that game was picked up by WB-11 after it lost an earlier weekend telecast to one of the national networks.
