...there's not much point in watching some channels. I just finished watching U-571 which I recorded on Bravo a while back. You can skip the commercials, but with them coming every 5 minutes I thought I was going to wear out the skip button on my remote. If that wasn't enough, between commercials they had even MORE commercials superimposed in the lower left of screen during the show. The lower right of the screen had a permanent Bravo logo. It would have almost been funny, had I not come to the realization that I'm paying around $50 a month for the priviledge of being their non-stop advertising target. $50 a month ... that's $600 per year. That'll buy a whole lot more DVD's than I could ever watch.

OK. Rant over. This was just a disgusting evening.

Yup, lots of the channels are becoming unwatchable. The logos were bad enough, now we've got the almost constant animations.

Just wait till some marketing guy figures out they can run CONSTANT banner ads in the top and bottom of any letterboxed content that goes on a 4x3 channel.

I agree. I stopped watching movies on non premium channels long long time ago.

At least Discovery Channel only does around 20 minutes of comercials per hour. What we need is an edit option on DVR so we can cut out unwanted portion of a recorded show and then watch it.

heck there needs to be a option were you can remove commericals after something like a movie or a tv show is already on the dvr hard drive. I tried to watch a civil action I recorded off bravo last week. 50 mins into it I remove it all them damn commericals kept throwing me off the movie could not understand what it was about cause it get to a good part then bam a commerical. Fast foward the commericals and I am still like wtf lol.

Wasn't TIVO coming out with pop-up ads!?!

With cable & sat providers paying for retrans rights, the free OTA TV is probably a miniscule portion of broadcaster's business, maybe since we pay to have TV the broadcasters should use those fees to offset advertising revenue.

Just my naive 2 cents worth!

On the other hand, TCM has no ads and plays most of the best movies ever made - mostly from the '30s to the '50s. TCM was the reason we switched from Sleazycom Cable to Dish. Sleazycom required digital cable which was another $13/mo for one digital box. The other TVs would have gotten only the stations you watch. :D

Dvr

I had to swap out my DVR 625. I have 1 Business related recording on the DVR. How can I copy it to my New 625?

This is exactly what I do with my Panny E-85H, I record the show from my 811 via S-Video, edit out the commercials then watch it. It takes me about 10 minutes to go through and edit the commercials, net time savings: 10 minutes. :D The average show these days runs 42 minutes, some even less. :no

I never watch channels like Bravo and many others because they show too many ads. I don't watch channels that show too many ads. Cartoon Network is now overduing it with the ads. Try watching Teen Titans or Static Shock and every few minutes they stop for long commercial breaks. All I know they better not start showing car or prescription drug commercials on there. Those are the worst commercials ever.

Um, do you have a DVR? If you do, you are still watching ads?
