Just got my new Directv setup today. I have 2 H24's and whole home DVR and am trying to hook my ethernet bridge up that I used with dish.

I can hook it up and get it connected just fine but then I lose the whole home access. If I disconnect the bridge and reboot the receiver then whole home comes back. What gives? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Never mind, apparently I have to get the home cinema connection thingy.

How important is the internet connection? Is it just for VOD? In order to access my DVR from the internet does it have to be connected?

Your installer should have installed the "Internet Connection Kit". I call and have them come back although they may charge $25.

No. Just log-on to your DirecTV account, click on the "What's On" tab and pick one of the selections. I use "The Guide - All Channels". Pick whatever show you want to record and click on it. It will bring up your recording options. (I have two DVRs so it lets me choose which one I want to record the program on.) You can test it out by selecting a program that is already in progress. Within about 10 seconds of making your record request you will see the "recording" light go on on your recorder. I really love this feature. You can also do the same thing on an iPhone, Android phone and some others with the DirecTV app. Very nice.
