when the contract ends, i would bet we lose ESPN for an extended period of time.
Somehow I have faith that won't happen.Charlie and Joe know that if they lose ESPN they will also lose a ton of subs.

I talked to both friends at DISH and ESPN (I live down the street from ESPN) and am told that talks are worse now then they ever have been.

Amazing that Dish Network is the ONLY MAJOR PROVIDER with this problem. I still feel that Charlie's overused legal team dropped the ball big time on this.Don't forget this about Disney wanting to be paid twice for the same feed. Once for the SD and once for the HD. Every other provider has ESPN U hd and their prices aren't double what I'm paying now, matter of fact since I have 4 receivers the price is basically the same.

I would think Dish would simply just drop the SD feed and pay for only the HD feed & down convert if need be to cover their SD customers.
Dish and Disney have been going after each other in court for a couple of years now. Disney is only trying this on Dish, if successful, then it's a pretty safe bet they will ask for the same thing from the other providers. Do a search on this, it has been well documented for a couple of years now. Probably nothing will happen on this or the other missing Disney/ESPN/ABC channels until the Disney and ESPN contracts come up for renewal and they are actually forced to talk to each other.
Also, why did Dish sign an agreement that they had no intention of honoring (i.e. only paying once)? If true, why would Disney choose Dish as its "test"? Doesn't make $en$e...........why not choose a smaller provider for the test
