Error 771

The newer recvrs required a Power Inserter as it takes more to run the newer LNBs I guess ...
The older recvrs used the supplied voltage from the recvr to feed it.
my guess from what i was told... the new genie the one with the power button in the middle the power inserter is 21 volts i dunno about the genie 2 my guess it's the same as the genie. not strong enough for long coax runs!!

The H44, HR44, HR54, and HS17 have power inserters in them. I've read that they are 29 volt.

i was under the impression the HR54 and HS17 were the only boxes with the power inserters in them i didn't think the 44 had them built in. it's not strong enough for long coax runs but then again they don't get installs every day that require 100 ft coax drops:coco

Then perhaps it isn't a 29 volt inserter but a 21 volt.

Interesting ...

I'm glad you posted that .... it reminded me that I need to change my PI around ... I need it to support my HR24 when the HR54 is running CE stuff.
This way I don't lose my HR24 when the Genie goes down.

Edit:
Looks like that fixed my issue !
Also, find it interesting that while the HR54 is in the process of rebooting, the Power light for it is off ... until it starts to go thru the step 1 and 2 process ...

I also found that my HR24 will still freeze for a few seconds when the HR54 gets to the Step 2 section.

Not sure why, but it is what it is, seeing its only for a few seconds.

My best guess is that the PI in the Genie is primary and when it goes off, it takes a second for the other one to kick in.

the external PI is better than the PI in the genies.. my first genie was the HR54 the one with the power button in the middle. complete crap now i have a genie 2.. works alot better and is tied to an external PI no issues at all.. but it's not everyday that they get installs that require long cable runs!!!
