i think i figured it out.. the power inserter was in a surge protector. i plugged it directly into the wall and i think it may be solved the problem...
I'm seeing this error more frequently now, and I don't have an external switch at all. I have a 1000.2 with a DPP Triple. It's annoying - I actually had to reboot once to get rid of the message.
