you know whats funny I can't watch the NFL anymore...so they can keep it, I did try when I first got my TIVO. The NFL is nothing but commercials, commercials, commercials....its not that I hate football just the NFL. Now I have always lived in areas with crappy teams so that doesn't help either (Cleveland & Atlanta). Now Colledge football......to quote Homer Jay mmmmmmmmmmmmm football

plus Fox's programming has really suffered lately anyway so I don't really care too much if they scramble, with one exception I would love to get FOX 8 from Cleveland so I could watch Big Chuck & Lil John.

FOX has always been very paranoid. From encrypting their backhauls, to NFL, and even the MyNetwork TV distribution feeds will be encrypted.

so true. I love college football but the NFL is so bland...too many commercials

So here is an easy list to understand

***KFDF-From UPN to RTN
**KWFT (now KBBL)..from WB to RTN
***KPBI (scrambled) from Fox to My
*KWBF from WB to My
*KTVC from UPN to RTN
*KQUP is already RTN (was UPN)
*KWBM from WB to My
*WGMU from UPN to My
*WMQF from Fox/UPN to Fox/My (My will be from 10-midnight local time)
**KWWF from UPN to RTN
WBIF (C-Band) from UPN to RTN

And the oddball
*WBMM from Daystar to CW

*-11800 TP
**-11720 TP
***-12114 TP

Most of the RTN stations gained probably won’t be full fledged RTN but just filler for the UPN programming they are losing (although it would be nice to have more RTN)

The KBBL-TV call letters are almost certainly not inspired by the KBBL-TV of The Simpsons, even though both stations are located in a DMA with the same name as the Simpsons' fictional hometown. Equity likes to use former radio call letters from its hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas as TV call letters, and KBBL was once used by a Little Rock radio station.

edited my post above. BOTH KBBL (KWFT) and KFDF (in the same market) are going RTN.

KBBL is right now WB100+ which is for smaller areas so the "coming September" thing is not for this channel. Its for all the WB100 stations

Not satellite.. I was watching my local OTA CBS station last night and they had an ad for CW.. This was the first I've heard anything so I went to their website and found this..

One thing I don't understand is - if you're using an antenna and your TV isn't digital you need a digital converter.. But, it's not HD.. What kind of converter is this..

thats normal. Some channels are adding subchannels on digital TV (just like they do with FTA)

example
analog takes up the whole bandwidth
digital they can split it up and give X amount of bandwidth to one channel and X amount to another

I have a Dish811 receiver that can get digital channels but my TV isn't HD. Here in Minneapolis we have the following on subchannels

5 is the ABC station. 5-1 is ABC and 5-2 is 24 hour weather & news
9 is Fox. 9-1 is HD (when available) and 9-2 is Standard def
11 is NBC. 11-1 is HD (when available) and 11-2 is weather +
17 is PBS. They have 5 stations. 17-1 is PBS 2 (the main PBS in town), 17-2 is 17, 17-3 is TPT Kids (like the old PBSKids), 17-4 is PBS Create and 17-5 is 24/7 weather radar
23 is WB (now CW). 23-1 is WB and 23-2 is the Tube (main reason I have it) :)

so the box allows you to get more channels (depedning on your area and what stations your local affiliates shows).

In Duluth, CW is on the CBS subchannel (3-2) and MyTV is on the NBC subchannel (6-2)

Yeah, this is 5 analog, 5.1 HD and coming 5.2 DTV with CW..

What I'm still confused about is - do I need a HDTV to get this new DTV station or some sort of converter to watch it on my analog TV..

I'm thinking about getting a DVD HDD recorder is there any way one of these will convert this.. Thanks

any receiver that can pick up digital channels or HD will work. I have a simple 32" TV that I can view these channels on :)

so you don't need a HDTV...just a converter to pick up HD (and digital)

well tongiht was the big night....and well, I'm still confused

Here's what I've figured out so far
Starting on the 11800 TP

KWBF did change from WB to MyTv
WBMM that shows Daystar isn't WBMM.....WBMM was sold and went to CW but Daystar is on right now
WGMU went from UPN to MyTV
KWBM went from WB to MyTV

11720 TP
KWWF went from UPN to UPN? Showing Veronica Mars right now (8 CDT)
KWFT went from CW100+ to UPN? Showing Veronica Mars right now (8 CDT)

oh by the way KYPX is showing some "metal edge" show with videos that the picture looks horrible!! Take a computer video and blow it up...thats what some of these videos look like. Major pixelation

I was hoping WBMM would be CW. The last I heard CW doesn't officially launch until September 20. Is that still the right date? UPN was to cease operations as a network on Friday, Sept. 15 and WB on Sunday, Sept. 17.

oh thats right....its all screwy

MNTV started yesterday but the other 2 don't cease until the 15th which is screw because our UPN went MNTV so now I cant see Smackdown :(
