So it's still a horse race. HD-DVD pops ahead of Blu-ray now and then in some categories. I've posted this to have a record to compare in say, one and three months, to see if trends continue.

Thanks for the info. I think it will interesting - and telling - how these sales ranks hold up around the end of May. Late May is shaping up to be one of the biggest release schedule since the formats launched.

May 22 HD DVD releases:
* The 40-Year-Old Virgin (Universal)
* The Complete Matrix Trilogy (Warner)
* Flags of Our Fathers (DreamWorks)
* Freedom Writers (Paramount)
* The Hurricane (2000) (Universal)
* Letters from Iwo Jima (Warner)
* M:I-2 (Paramount)
* Mission: Impossible (Paramount)
* The Skeleton Key (Universal)
* Smokey and the Bandit (Universal)
* The Ultimate Matrix Collection (Warner)

May 29, 2007

* The Big Lebowski (Universal)
* Dragonheart (Universal)
* The Frighteners: Director's Cut (Universal)
* Lost in Translation (Universal)
* Midnight Run (Universal)
* The River (Universal)

Blu-ray:
May 22, 2007

* Apocalypto (Buena Vista)
* Closer (Sony)
* Flags of Our Fathers (DreamWorks)
* Freedom Writers (Paramount)
* Letters from Iwo Jima (Warner)
* M:I-2 (Paramount)
* Mission: Impossible (Paramount)
* Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Buena Vista)
* POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl (Buena Vista)
* Primeval (Buena Vista)

May 29, 2007

* Basic Instinct (Lionsgate)
* Blood & Chocolate (Sony)
* Curse of the Golden Flower (Sony)
* Weeds: Season One (Lionsgate)

Will those cursed Pirates beat The One (Matrix)? :rolleyes:
Will Mel Gibson (Apocalypto) beat a 40 yr. old virgin or Smokey? :D

Time will tell. In the meantime, May 22 will be an expensive day for me. I already have pre-ordered Complete Matrix Trilogy, Flags of our Fathers, & Letters from Iwo Jima. I already own the Mission Impossible Trilogy. I'll be JoeSP has those cursed Pirates coming his way. :p

Yep, many of the above titles may actually lead me to buying into one of the new formats before my original post Christmas 2007 date window. My FPTV has been gnawing at me to feed it more often.

So UPS will be gearing up for a boost in business in late May/June? Might lead to some great sales on players for the Fourth. (Don't I wish!)

I think next month I might rent a player and check it out.

Ah, well, sometime this month we should get some first quarter sales figures, rates and trends. So we can chew on that until the second quarter figures come out, ......

Possible reason why there's not a flood of HD movies.

Microsoft seeing writing on the wall HD-DVD going away?
