I have a groundhog family that moved in this spring. Might need the services of the Lone Gunman!
Its hard to shoot the cute little critters, but Ive tried more lately, they just don't show themselves much, and they are too smart for the trap. Sadly there wont be much to can this year.

I have free roaming pigs. I have to keep up a fence or something.

I still think the Micro HD is a sweet little box and that is used quite a bit yet.

I can fully relate with the post, however, the times are changing and the internet part is growing by leaps and bounds and not showing any signs of slowing down.
Who want to remain years behind the curve ball?
I never dreamed I would be watching over 50% of the tv programming from the internet yet that is what is happening here already.

Change is never easy.

I am all for the Internet stuff, and IPTV, i just don't want it on my Satellite receiver. I have a ROKU, thats what ROKU does. I don't want ROKU to jump into the STB market, and i don't want my STB to try and integrate other things.

Get a live trap, place the cage inside a large contractors garbage bag, (black), inside place a well ripened cantaloupe slices. I sometimes use the inside of the cantaloupe in a metal container in the cage.... Caught 20 of those critter so far this way with no problem. Some are caught in under 5 minutes!
If you don't want to kill them you must take them at least 4 miles away or they will come back.

You guys must have missed my post above along with the streaming, Youtube and other "evil" internet functions in your Amiko Mini HD's. LOL

To recap....

Whatever we replace Mini HD SE with in North America will be on an ALi chipset running similar if not identical GUI as Mini HD SE.

It will NOT be Android.

It will have Youtube, IPTV and the other stuff that is already in our entire ALi line and has been since 2011.

It will be another model where the focus is TRUE FTA SATELLITE except on better, more powerful hardware than Mini HD SE. The other stuff is there in the background if you want to play with it. Like Mini HD SE, it won't be a media center or XBMC device or anything but a satellite receiver with a few limited internet options.

I understood your previous post T134. What is this new replacement for the MINI HD SE going to enhance? Will i get 4:22, UHD? or ACM?? -- A faster CPU isn't necessary unless its doing UHD? I have no speed issues with my MiniHDSE. Channels change fast, menus are smooth. The reason they are creating and EOL is to try and force you to buy another unit. FINE, but put some features in it that will make it a better satellite receiver!

I just bought my third Mini HD SE from KE4EST this week in anticipation of their demise.

While I have nothing to do with any receivers coming out or the building of them I understand fully what your saying, however, I believe that we have moved to a point in time that the receivers coming out are all going to incorporate internet stuff and IPTV. They would be foolish not to at this day & age of internet.

I get away at our cabin in the mountains and there is no internet there and no cell service either so it is like going back in time I fully relate to not wanting all the fluff as some just don't want it but reality says that is not going to be the norm any more.
Same as with new receivers coming out. We all will have to face the facts that the norm is now going to be with all the internet fluff in the receivers. Still does not mean you have to use the internet side of things though. As you should always be given the choice if you just want to use the satellite side of things.

Off topic just a little bit more, on the subject of groundhogs. I use a large have a hart trap to catch the groundhogs and then have a place twelve miles away that the owner don't mind me dumping them at. All I do is set the trap in one of their paths they run on or right in front of their hole, with no bait in it at all, and they waddle right in. Usually within a day, caught four this year that way that were decimating my garden. We use to shoot them, but getting soft, I guess, and my daughter gets a kick out of catching them, though I grossed her out on the last one, which was a big one, when I told her it might make a good supper.

Only thing is that when they are in the trap, be careful of sticking your fingers too close, some of them get pretty ornery in the trap. And put a garbage bag or something under the cage when transporting them. My daughter likes it when I catch the groundhogs, she gives them water from a water bottle and feeds them before they go to their new home.

Now I am motivated again to get the have-a-hart trap back out and try again.
I will make sure to post pictures in this thread if I get one.
