End of Life Receivers

I ditched the service plan when I learned on here that I could just start it up again and keep it for a few months when I needed it.

That was my first monetary savings directly attributed to SatGuys that I paid back with a Pub Membership. Since then I have saved hundreds more on other things.

My owned 722 died a few years ago, no protection plan and way out of warranty. Dish replaced it free of charge, no questions asked, and it still is owned. Not too shabby, IMHO.

The MGEG 4 transition continues.

There are some ancient receivers out there that Dish will totally deactivate by Feb 1, swapping them out for the 211K.

Models are 111, 1000, 1500, 3000, 3500, 4000 & 4500.

Hmmm. Maybe they can sell them to Comcast (sister has Comcast and her box is definitely from that era).

So that we have now past the Feb. 1 deadline, did this actually happen? Is there anyone who had one of these receivers that can confirm that they no longer work?

I would expect there to be a slow degradation of channels received, as Dish migrates them over slowly. Spread out the complaints/service calls, because we all know that at least 15% won't have gotten the message.

I would also expect our satguys members to have few,if any of those models on the list.

I have an old model 3900 still working great (for the amount we actually watch anyways)

I just talked to dish the other day. They didn't mention anything to me.

They keep pushing the shutdown back a month. Nagging to get the boxes changed out before they pull the plug. Now they say the end of this month.

Better upgrade before you wake up and it doesn't work then wanna raise hell at Dish cause you ignored the warnings here and already knew better.
You can purchase your own 311 to replace it and a DP twin LNB for hardly nothing now online and won't require a tech visit or anything you can do it yourself. So get going!

Why?We still have a 3800 and a 3900 working just as well as they did the day we got them. And for the record the 38/3900 receivers aren't even on the upgrade list.If Dish ever decides to upgrade then I say let them do it on their dime.

Sorry for starting up a necropost in this old thread, but I have 2 boxes from 2004, a 510 and 301 I think they are? Are these worth anything? Or should I chuck them in the trash? I know I missed the trade-in awhile back, but I didn't need anything to trade them in for? What's the verdict?

Thanks

I do not believe Dish will activate these units.

You might try contacting Dish directly an see if they can be exchanged for usable receivers.

Lots of people probably needing service calls to replace the boxes because it is just too "technical" for them...

Cox is more expensive than Dish!

Had to put Dish on Pause
