I just received an email from Elgato about their new EyeTV HD for $199.95 on their web site. I already have the Hauppauge HD PVR which I am running on my Mac with EyeTV 3 software. The new EyeTV HD comes with an IR Blaster that seems to function better than the one for the Hauppauge HD PVR(which I could NEVER get to work for me). Neither Elgato nor Hauppauge comes with HDMI set up,nor do they have S/PDIF. I operate my Hauppauge as a DVR,using my STB''s remote to set up the record time for the STB(like setting up to record to VCR),then I set up the EyeTV 3 software to do the rest. it looks like the EyeTV HD will be a big improvement over the hardships I have working with the HD PVR,but the EyeTV HD doesn't have pass through capabilities like the HD PVR(& slingboxes) have. I'm curious about it & may buy it to set up with my D* HD DVR & see if it will operate with the EyeTV 3 software I already have.
