The old Ku dish I am rehabbing came with a pretty much corroded elevation adjustment rod. The threads are so worn it's useless. Plan is to replace the rod. As per the instructions on the old mounting hardware it states all four nuts must be in place on the threaded rod before adjusting dish. Attached is a picture of the old rod on the left. Hopefully I can get that middle thing off, then replace it with the new 5/16 threaded rod on the right, with new washers and nuts. But I don't know how to place the nuts, am assuming two go on either end? Not sure if one nut acts as the adjuster and the second acts as a jam nut.

These threaded adjusters come in real handy when your are very close to the right elevation angle.

Have checked photos on Google and Yahoo, nothing to help me out. Perhaps someone on the forum has a picture or an idea of how it originally looked.

Thank you.

Sponge

hi spongella. I dug a spare 1.2M Channel Master mount out of the garage and took some pics for you. They should work for you to figure out how the original is. a couple of more pics. WP_20150520_007.jpg WP_20150520_008.jpg basically the top head of the bolt & the nut underneath move as one unit. The nut underneath the top metal piece has a pin pressed into the hole that presses tight up against the bolt to prevent it from spinning on the bolt. hope this helps.

Thanks beavs2112, pictures are immensely helpful. Will try to reconstruct this with new hardware, mine was frozen on, but with heat and WD40 got it loose.

On one of my 1.2m dishes, (Prodelin) I replaced the elevation rod with a LONG and larger-sized turnbuckle. Worked very well, and still locked in place 3 years later. There's more than enough thread available for any elevation change I'd need, if I was to move it off of 103W.

A turnbuckle, now did not think of that one, great idea. These rods are like having a third hand helping to hold the dish in place, especially when fine tuning.
