El Rey going away?

Funny how Dish isn't saying anything, just pretending it doesn't exist...

And I was just getting into "Biker Mice From Mars" too :biggrin

1) Charge more for HD feed on niche channel
2) Nobody watches niche channel because it looks terrible in SD
3) Nobody watching means the channel provider can't use it for leverage during contract negotiations
4) Congratulations, you played yourself

We cut the cord for 9 months. Wasn’t impressed at all. Tried Sling and then moved to PS Vue. Granted, picture quality was good but both services still had many channels in 30fps. I guess my major complaint was you had no idea of whom to call when their was a problem! Was it your internet provider, PS Vue, Roku, etc. they all like to play the blame game. At least with DISH I know exactly who to call if I have a problem. They may not want to acknowledge the problem but ultimately they are the ones going to fix it. Plus my wife missed the mindless ability to channel surf! lol.

Your absolutely right.

Such a hassle to open the app and find the channel opposed to picking up the remote.

The blame game can get old and annoying

It's frustrating because I actually liked El Rey. Sure, the picture quality was lousy, and I was hoping that at some point an HD feed would be available (I think they're in HD on DirecTV), but as a sci-fi lover, I enjoyed the programming line-up, which mainly consisted of sci-fi programming that should be on the Syfy Channel, but isn't, because Syfy/NBC/Comcast are idiots who don't give two cents about what Syfy's core audience actually wants to watch.

El Rey was showing Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Quantum Leap, the A-Team, Incredible Hulk, Xena Warrior Princess... in fact, in the past, they also used to show Knight Rider and the original V series as well. All of these are great shows, especially for sci-fi fanatics, and except for the A-Team which airs on Encore, none of them are airing on any other network right now.

In fact, I was actually in the middle of DVR'ing the episodes of Starhunter Redux, seeing that show for the very first time and really enjoying it too.

Hopefully the channel comes back at some point...
