I purchased an Edision Mio 4K+ from Titanium a while back and so far I am very happy with it. The only issue I have is the volume level output by it. When my tv volume is set at the normal level I use for all other inputs and OTA television I have to turn the volume of the Edision up to the high 70s or even low 80s to get an adequate volume level out of it. It has been this way since the start. All other satellite receivers I have used (and I have tried a lot) never had to go further than the mid-point of the volume range to get a sufficient level. I know the box is Linux based and there is an option in Linux OSs called over-amplification, which can be switched on to significantly boost the sound level. I looked around the Edision menus but did not see anything like that. Is the low volume level I am experiencing normal for the Edision or is something up? If not normal, any idea what is wrong? Thanks! :)

Have you checked options when you press the Audio button?
AC3 downmix makes a lot of difference on mine.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did see that option under audio when I first noticed the issue. Toggling downmix does not appear to make any noticeable difference for me no matter what type the audio is. :(

:bump

It's something in the way you have yours hooked up, because I've never heard anybody else complain about low volume from their Mio. If anything, mine is TOO loud! lol

As for comparing it to another receiver, levels and settings are all subjective, and there's no standard. So, you can't really do that so simply.

Agree prime. Having a soundbar with HDMI ARC disables per-input volume level offset on my Sony. But it's there,
Considering that you've tried all of the Mio settings and the vol. is low, try the TV audio menu. That's about all I got.

It's not how I have it hooked up. I've tried it with two different televisions and also my AVR. Results were all the same - volume needs to be in the high 70s or into the 80s to get decent sound level.

Are there any settings for volume utput level, perhaps in a hidden menu, or is there a file that can be edited to change the output level? I run Linux on a daily basis so no issue doing that it if needed.

Yes that sounds right with over 70 volume level. All my enigma2 boxes are the same way.
Comparing volume between sat. and OTA my mio is loader on OTA channels but not by much. I usually only have to adjust the mio volume down by 5% when going to OTA and back up 5% when on a sat channel. Really depends on the program. Some are low volume and other high. Some times I have to adjust the TV volume up because the program is so low.

Thanks for that info about enigma 2 boxes. This is the first I have used. I have had quite a few 'regular' receivers and as I said I have never had to turn any of them more than half of full output to get decent levels. It just seemed strange that it needs to be so high but if it is common with these boxes then I guess I will just live with it. :)

I think the driver for the audio level is good.Starting at 0% each 5% I can hear it get louder just have to get up high to get a good sound level. Just wish The Orby box had sound level it's bad here between sat. and ota just have to adjust the tv volume.

Yes, we have Orby too and the tv volume must be adjusted a bit when switching between Orby satellite channels and OTA channels even though they are both tuned by the Orby. :rolleyes
