Echostar XIX launch on 12/18 on channel 89 in HD

good morning my friends dish added a HD channel into the lineup no it is not live yet until on 12/18 where dish will be launching a new satellite @1:08 pm on channel 89 it is called echostar XIX you can add the hd channel to your guide and watch it live then .i just wanted to let you folks know about it here is a little info on what this satellite does

they have essentially sold out all their North American satellite internet capacity and are expecting #19 to really pump up their sales (Hughes Division). Without much fanfare, EchoStar has completed or planned , 4- 5 satellite launches in 1 year. Satellites are turning into a major business for them.

nelson you said that there are 4 to 5 more satellite launches which ones do you know will be used for future hd or 4k channels thanks allen

None excepting the replacement 18 parked at 61.5. they are either for other world markets or internet.

Well, this is good news for my good friends in rural America. The cost and caps for decent internet speed in rural locations is just downright immoral. Considering how the internet something like a necessary utility, I'm glad to see expansion for folks in the boonies. Even with all the dopey ideas of solar powered gliders and balloons covering the skies, satellite still seems the rational technology (Google now thinking of constellation of LEO sats, I think). This has no effect nor an option nor does it add any competition in our situation as our cable co with no datacaps is far less expensive with no "limits" compared to satellite internet service, but I'm so pleased to hear of our rural getting just a little closer to getting some of the cost benefits of more Internet World Wide Web universe that city, suburban, and exburb folk enjoy. I know there is a long way to go, but glad to see any amount of added access for rural America.

Don't drop DSL for satellite. The latency is better than it was years ago, it is about 600-900ms now. Speed is really good from HughesNet in non peak hours. In the day it can be 25-30 Mbps, at night it goes down to about 5 Mbps. I am hoping that Echostar 19 helps alleviate that.
I have DSL from CenturyLink that I use most of the time, and have the HughesNet for a backup or to use when I am downloading something on the DSL connection or it is busy streaming.
I wouldn't get rid of my DSL over HughesNet, but HughesNet is good if you can't get anything else or for a backup connection.

Yeah, both Echostar/Hughes and Exede will tell you that gaming is near to impossible.

I believe the other advantage to DSL is that it's a dedicated line, so you don't have to worry about slowdowns at peak times. I live in the boonies and have Fairpoint with bonded pair DSL. 20mbps all the time. $50/month with no caps

Indeed; it's a far cry from what my neighbors to the north in Kansas City (50 or so miles to the north) have access to with Google Fiber. 1 gbps!!

I dont believe that DSL lines are truly dedicated like people believe. We had congestion issues during peak times here before they put us on a new fiber ring. There is only so much data that they can carry just like the cable companies.

I also have Fairpoint DSL and am paying $50 a month for 3.0 MB down and 568K up. Doubt it's bonded pair. They have sent me mailers to upgrade to 7.0. Forget how much extra they wanted.

It's definitely bonded pair. The modem utilizes 2 lines simultaneously; it's a Comtrend NexusLink 3112u. I would give them a call. They went from 3mbps here a few years ago to 12mbps then all of a sudden started offering 20+ mbps with bonded pair. They told me they could get me 50mpbs if I really wanted it (big bucks, no thanks).

I meant I didn't think mine is bonded pair, but I really have no idea and yes I do wish they would improve it. Fairpoint bought out the Mom and Pop telco, Taconic Telephone, that owned our phone company before them. We had a party line and a rotary dial phone when we moved in here 20 years ago.

They're using the HT1100 now. I think it came out after the Jupiter/Echostar XVII bird was launched.
