I find it amazing that someone could TWIST what I DID say, into something I DIDN'T say.

Especially when they aren't even close to each other.

I did not read anyone trying to twist what you said, rather tried to clear up something, why be so offensive? If not for his clarification, I thought E* did include the RSNs in the count, now he said, and you agreed they are not counted. What is wrong with such clarification to the subject at hand?

While I found E*'s count pushing the envelope, it is not nearly as a hype as D*'s HD hype for over a year. What I found interesting is D* still don't have 70 HDs when they said over an over they would have so by Q3. I was expecting by now D* would be close to 100 count, and E* will have to wait till next year when they have new birds up to start catching up. The fact that E* is still in the contention was unexpected because we all knew E* is maxing out its bandwidth and D* just added plenty with D10.

The fact E* can still claim the most HD count, no matter how much they worked the numbers, is a shock to many I think, who had thought D* would have two to three times of HDs by now.

I was also going off of the same information that you questioned that was saying it was upconverted, that along with the fact that there was no SciFi press release that i saw, and nothing mentioned on the SciFi website, led me to say what i did, and i stand corrected.

Just seems like a bad move on SciFi's part not to make a big deal out of it on there own webisite to get the fans of their network to work on the cable companies and E*.

Usually when a network starts an HD feed there is some sort of fanfare press release from the network. When nothing is on the networks website, or released by the network, it makes you wonder what is up.

Yup, it doesn't exist. The C-band master feed isn't there and D* subs are lying when they tell you Atlantis is in HD. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid.

A couple of things. I quoted a person that said that they receive out-of-market HD RSNs on DISH , which is a bogus statement. I said NOTHING about counting this or counting that.

I never mentioned let alone agreed to any counting of anything. Please re-read my post, and the post that I quoted from.

Yes, D* said they would have about 70 channels up by end Q3, and they are going to be about a month late. I guess you heard nothing about the issues with the new satellite they had to work out which caused this delay.

It might have been unexpected if you were still looking at it from the begining of the year, but with delays outside of D*'s control, the fact that they have gotten them up so quickly is impressive. And the Official word is up to 70 by the end of october.

Well, if listing the currently available HD channels on channels 77. 92, 510 and 541 aren't official, what is? Along with a listing on their website as well.

From everything I have gathered, and correct me if i am wrong, but SciFi doesnt have an HD feed yet... so that is 100% up converted and being called an HD channel from D*.

SciFi HD showed it's first HD program this past Thursday which was Species: The Awakeing. From what I've seen SciFi has also shown Bionic Woman, the Flash Gordon series, the new season of Stargate Atlantis, and Dark Ride. All of these have been produced by NBCU. Stuff that wasn't, I don't think has been in HD.

Rad posted on this website sometime back the information from NBCU's website that lists all the techincal details of SciFi HD. So it is a real channel and not some made up upconvert by D*. I don't know why NBCU has choosen not to make a formal announcement about USA HD, SciFi HD or Bravo HD but they are real and do exist.

The number of channels doesn't matter - it only matters if the provider has the program you want to see.

If - for example - what you want to see is "Wild Hogs" in HD - then Dish's HD-PPV channels do count.

If - for example - what you want to see is some particular non-local NFL team play, in HD - then DirecTV's Sunday Ticket HD channels do count.

The total number doesn't matter, though. I can't imagine that there is one person, out of those millions, that watches all the HD-PPV movies and all the out of market sports matches, and all the HD documentaries, and so on. So, how could the total number possibly mean anything ?
