Echostar is Now Dish Network

Looks like the split is finally official...

EchoStar now officially called DISH Network - Engadget HD

Wow they got it done a whole 6 days before dish asked for it to be approved, go fcc. Now what does this mean to me? as a customer, as a investor, and most of all a DNS tech? My guess..... were going to buy tivo (just kidding)

We can't use '*' anymore as it was short for 'star' part of Echostar name.

So, what we can substitute for 'network' part ?

Perhaps '#' ?

Not really much point to eliminating the * since star is not part of the name---it never was part of D*'s name either. It is just a wildcard character. I say stick with the current terminology---or type DISH since it isnot much longer.

I don't think you'll ever break folks from saying E* and D*, its been around way toooo long.

I can type Dish much quicker than having think about how to type DN*.

Or how about D1Sh N3Tw0r4? or however the script kiddies would type it.

so what does that mean for the Canadian Provider Bell express VU , they are/were affiliated with echostar , I don't see Canada freely advertising Dishnetwork as there receiver supplier
