Echostar 16 can be operated in one of three transmission modes.

This is the one they will be using:

"A) A combination of using the CONUS+ beam and the spot beams simultaneously. In this
mode, channels 1-17 are used with the CONUS+ beam, while channels 18-32 are used
with the spot beams;"

So, your spot beams will be in the 18-32 transponder range.
 
Please, please, please let them move the Buffalo locals to a new spot beam. The current one is so weak!
 
The Buffalo locals, IIRC, are on my spotbeam for Washington DC! This seems nuts to me too. I predict that they will fix that sorry situation by shuffling all locals around when E16 is finally in service.

I just looked at TheList. That is crazy. Spotbeam 4 doesn't even come close to covering Buffalo within the red circle. Could that be a misprint? Maybe Buffalo is on a different spotbeam than what is listed? I'm talking EA here.

So am I. I think TheList is correct, except for the Newport News locals which are also shown as being on my spotbeam 4 when in fact spotbeam 4 has no transponder 15 and it's really coming from spotbeam 5. When I click on the Washington DC market, I also erroneously see the Harrison, PA market too.

The E12 spotbeam maps suffer from the fact that Dish has rotated the satellite northeast, and the genius (nelson61?) who puts the maps up for us has never found updated maps. That should all become moot soon as E12 will be relegated to spare.

I have a feeling the shuffling will start to take place in the next few days. DFW locals were on a spotbeam on 15 but now Conus on same tp. Went thru all the tps on sat and when I got back around 15 is now showing spot. So are 1, 3, 7 showing as spots. Then Have 18, 20, 22 not showing anything so figure they are spots. Finally have 19, 24, & 29 as Locked: Name not Acquired so I'm guessing they are still working on these.

In previous threads about E12, we pretty much determined that the satellite was reoriented to the north and slightly west. Spotbeam 4 stretches from Norfolk, VA to Buffalo, NY.

The 12? year license for E12 expired a couple of years ago and they resubmitted the original beam data files for the new license. So, there is nothing else out there. They are required to file if they repoint the beam centers and never have. So, probably the original projection was big time different than how the satellite actually performed. Things have improved over the years and now the projections are much more accurate. But, all is not perfect and SES will be collecting data and remapping Quetzsat 1 during the next two months (apparently, they must have gotten test data at 67W that did not fit their original data submissions).

I said "northeast" and I stand corrected. And I understand and agree on the current spotbeam 4 reach up to Buffalo, astonishing though that may be. But Norfolk, VA is not in spotbeam 4, as evidenced by the fact that there is no TP 15 in spotbeam 4 on the E12 satellite. Norfolk, VA has got to be on spotbeam 5 instead, which does indeed have a TP15. Dish probably did this because spotbeam 4 is oriented too far to the north and west to give a good signal to Norfolk.

Apparently I need to do some more explaining about my earlier remarks. My term for you as "genius" was meant genuinely, and not sarcastically. I think you do a tremendous job and TheList with all the maps is a wonderful resource. My statement that you haven't found newer data was not meant to imply that it was really there, and you were incompetent. :( Not at all.

Thanks for clarifying that the data just aren't out there to update those ancient E12 maps.

I would like to 2nd this and also note that my previous comment was also not directed at you nelson but was pointing to the fact that none of the spot beams maps for that sat are accurate. I never understood why they had never updated them until you made the statement above.

Scott Greczkowski are any of these dual arc? If so after the moves of not just these but others that are dual arc will E* maybe start switching customers out?
 
I live in B'ham which is dual arc. I have a 1000.2 and a 1000.4 pointed at both arcs.

I doubt that Dish will start moving customers. Perhaps Dish might move new installs to EA though. Currently Dish is still installing WA dishes here in B'ham unless no LOS.
