Hi Guys, I'm hoping somebody can educate me on this...

I have a 7 foot dish currently pointing at 55.5W (Intelsat805) (I guess it's a C-band dish?). I got curious and decided to see if I could catch 61.5W since the elevation between the two is only 2-3 degrees. So I moved the dish slightly West (to the right) hoping to find 61.5W. Nothing happened. So.....

What I'm trying to accomplish, is it even possible? If so, what could be the problem here.

Could it be the LNB Freq.? the Freq. for intelsat805 is working at 5150Mhz. For Echo3, do I have to change it to 11250? or 9750/10700?

Could it be the elevation? there is a 2-3 degree elevation different between echo3 and intelsat805, but I'm "guessing" that since the dish is so big, 2-3 deg. will not make a huge difference (meaning, I would expect to still get a weak signal, then strenghten it by adjusting the elevation aftewards).

Could it be the actual LNB on the dish?

Thx in advance.

The LNB needs to be a circular polarity LNB designed for the DBS band. The LO is usually 11250 for these LNB's.

Where are you located?

Hi all - thx for your replies. I am in Buffalo, NY.

I dont know if I can get you a pic of the LNB so you can determine which I'm using... BUT
going on lyngsat I see that intelsat805 only transmits in C-band. therefore the LNB on the dish I'm using is...... (?) circular?

Yes, I am using an FTA receiver also.

So, if we can determine that I have a circular LNB based on the above info, is it safe to say I cannot catch dishnetwork? and that I would need an different LNB for it? are they cheap? what are they called, K-band lnbs??

Thx.

We have plenty info about LNBFs for DN - just read the forums here.

C and Ku bands are different, Ku could be circular or linear; take close picture from couple sides, then we will talk, actually IF YOU HAVE dual setup with Ku LNB, then 100% you have linear KU-band. For circular get other 'legacy' one and read how ppl combined C/Ku and Dish LNBF.
