Maybe thats the going value for a fishing reef and they plan to drop it off Australia.
I'm sure the Navy would pay them more to use it as Target Practice. Unless of course its the USAF's turn.

It's been proven now. So no troll in sight.Prove it...Until then you will just be seen as a troll.

A backup sat, Locals for Alaska and 6 smaller markets, all since transferred. Not a big loss IMHO. No doomsday scenario here.
That's a long way to shoot it... but the best thing to do is to keep it in one piece instead of a million pieces.
Seriously, why would they depend on a bird that is 2 yrs past it's life expectancy?
Might be a good target for the Navy's rail gun technology.
Life expectancy and warranty are two entirely different things. Do most cars die after 3-5 years ? No, they keep running 3-5x longer.Do you stop depending on your car just because the warranty has run out?
Personally I think Dish should scrap the Eastern Arc service and start converting its main operation over to MPEG4. There is no reason they should need to run two seperate operations.

A better example would be:
If you're timing belt life span is 90k miles, do you run it to 150k and risk engine damage?
Dish ran it to long and is going to pay the price. I dont mean that in a high and mighty way, but sometimes if you push it, it pushes back.
