Ebay Receiver question

I was going to get DTV, but the CSR told me that they had stopped activating used equipment completely.

Last Sunday I activated a R10 that I got off ebay used card and all....no problems. Must depend on the CSR.

My sister-in-law and her husband get by quite well with my second-hand recievers. They're not much into TV in the quality sense (like in...."What's surround sound?") so they've been more than pleased to take my old ones which for them are upgrades. Just sent them my old Sony that I replaced with an H20. They got it Friday, plugged it in Saturday and got it activated without a problem. They're being sent a new card but the CSR activated the unit with my old card in it. So, in this case, we had used equipment and a used card but it's up and running without any problems.
