If anyone can help here...

I have a situation where my normal dish installation (southwest view of sky) is now having major Loss of Signal because some trees have grown up and now are an obstruction. I have no option to cut the trees at all.

Can I request an "eastern arc" dish that would point to the eastern sky and provide me with all the same channels and services? I have a clear view of the south eastern sky on top of the house. I am located in the northern wisconsin area.

are there any "gotcha's" with this change or setup I should know about compared to what i currently have. I think i have a dish1000 right now and a 622 receiver. thinking of getting the hopper though.

Local channels are usually on only one arc. A few are on both arcs. What city do you receive your local channels from?

my locals are technically from chicago, (because i have "snowbird" account unofficially). so i get locals just fine in chicago, but in northern WI they dont come in because spotbeam i think, however, thats OK with me because i use the OTA tuner to get local "locals".

If the locals in your area are only on western arc, local installers may not have a eastern arc dish.

In northern MI, they use eastern arc, so I would think Wisconsin would also use the EA dish. do you see any EA dishes in your area?

i cant say that i have been looking to see any eastern arc dishes in the area...what would i be looking for? do you have a link to the picture?

what if i just went out and purchased my own eastern arc dish, then installed it and pointed it? would that be end of story and all would work well?

That would probably be your best bet. the new 1000.2 eastern arc dishes with just 2 lnb's are pretty easy to dial in. especially if your old mast can be used in it's current location.

also since your locals are not gonna happen anyway with your current subscription, just swap it out, or easier yet just get a eastern arc lnb assembly for you current dish, assuming it is a 1000.2.

I'm guessing the easiest way to spot an EA dish is if it's pointing southeast instead of southwest...
