According to Mashable, the publisher responsible for the ultra-popular iPhone app "Angry Birds," Chillingo, has been acquired by EA for $ 20 million in cash. Since its App Store debut in Dec 2009, "Angry Birds" has dominated mobile app sales rankings. Nearly 7 million copies have sold at 99 cents each, claims developer Rovio. A $ 4.99 high-definition version was just lately released for iPad, and an Android version had been released in September.

Soon Rovio will command the 'Angry Birds'

The "Angry Birds" app had been developed by a Finland-based company which just came out and said that although EA bought the founder Chillingo, which developed "Angry Birds," Rovio will be able to continue to control the franchise. Rovio told Mashable that it means "Angry Birds" and "any future products" will nevertheless be under its control. Any other "Angry Birds" announcements will come later. Thursday will be when they come. "Angry Birds" will probably continue to stay considering chillingo's latest app, "Cut the Rope," sold in just 10 days, 1 million copies.

Preparing for EA to get some of the Apple going on

Reuters spoke with EA spokeswoman Holly Rockwood. She said that EA Mobile's sector leading presence on the iPhone platform is what EA was working toward when purchasing Chillingo, which makes it so EA Mobile still could be the best app company in the whole world.

Reuters explains that Electronic Arts actually had, within the trading on Nasdaq, a 1.2 percent decrease to $15.40. Nobody knows if this has any relation to Chillingo's scheme of offering "Angry Birds" on the Android for free or not. The video game press is apparently pretty negative about Chillingo offering "Angry Birds" for free on the Android with in-game marketing.
