E-Bay LNBs

I'm looking at a couple of linear LNBs for sale on E-Bay. They're cheap. Real cheap. Like, $10 shipped cheap.

One says it's got a gain figure of 70db and a noise figure of 0.6. Another one claims 60db but the noise figure is 0.2, for $1 more.

Which would be better on paper? I realize you get what you pay for most times, but for $10 or less, I'd like to try one out. May as well try "the good one."

An off the shelf LNBF will not have 60dB gain or 0.2dB noise figure. In theory, the lower NR will provide higher quality.

An LNBF claiming a 60dB gain with 0.2NR is not a $10 item. Consider it marketing hype.

ALL 60dB gain /0.2 or 0.3NR LNBFs that we have tested were closer to 50-60dB gain / 0.5 and some as high as 0.9NR.

I don't believe those numbers for a second. Sort of like cheap computer speakers being rated 1000 watt PMPO. That measures how much power the speaker can take for a half second before it explodes. So, 2000 watt PMPO speaker set, so long as it was the same brand (as you can't compare PMPO from one speaker system to another) might be better, but still junk by any standard.

Guessing then that the lower noise figure one would probably be better then?

Stability is what is the best. I have an old ExpressVu LNB (when they were linear) and it beat quality and stability wise a "claimed" .3 n/f
That EVu one was probably a .6 or .7 n/f

In the northern climates here I need one that doesn't take a dump when it gets cold. Had 2 like that (some off brand .3 ones)....soon as it gets below 0 the LNB dies.

I bought three. One for a buddy of mine, one for me, and one in case one of the other ones just doesn't work.

Got a Sadoun DG380 coming too. Now if the weather would warm up just a little when that gets here I'll have some fun.
