DVR522 L253 Timer with New option problems.

When trying to record a show that's on twice a day, both get recorded. Also reruns from the same year get recorded. Reported problem through 800# and they say they are working on a solution for the duplicate show problem. I don't know about the rerun from the same year problem. Anyone else have or report these problems? Thanks in advance. Patrick

Are you setting it up to record "new" shows only on the timer menu? That works here.

First I went into timers and edited the old timers. Then I tried deleting them and adding new ones using the guide. Same problem either way. Do you have a program that repeats on the same day?

If the show is flagged "new" more than once a day, it will record those, too. I just bring them up, use "info" to see if there are, in fact, new. If duplicated, I just delete them. I figure it is better to have two of the same, rather than none of any. If the box pulls the old "info screen" trick, it sometimes is a show saver,anyway.

With Dish anything with the date of 2005 is considered new. So even a show from last January will record. There is a bug that if there isn't a date in the show info it will record as though it is new. The word "new" is NOT used to determine if the show is new, it's only the current year that is used.

Yep... I remember when we got NBR on the 522, and I was pissed because they did it like that. It isn't nearly as useful or accurate as it *could* be if they'd just look for the word "New."

It's probably even simpler than that, just a bit that is set in the guide data structure for a program.
