DVR recording shows I don't want

I have a question.

Just 3 days ago, I had DirecTV installed. I got the HD DVR receiver. I haven’t had a lot of time to play around with it a lot, but I was able to record a couple of shows. And it did just what I asked it to do.

However, I get home yesterday and I go to watch one of the shows I recorded, and there are at least 7 – 10 other programs that are recorded. I didn’t set up any other recordings. And I didn’t set up any preferences either.

Why is it doing this?

It will record shows that it thinks you will like. It bases it's decisions on other shows you record. You can turn the feature off in preferences (I think) but those shows will never overwrite a program you intentionally record. You may want to leave it active for a month or 2 to see how accurately it chooses programs/movies for you.
