DVR Recording question.

Hey all. New D* user here. Had a quick question about the series option for recordings. I set some programs to record a series of first run only and it is recording shows that aired last year. Does this happen all the time or did I miss an option when setting up the series recording?

Yes it does happen at times. It is up to the network providing the show to tag it as a rerun if they don't D* has no way of knowing it is.
