DVR questions

OK, you guys are now killing me! I've had Dish for about a decade and for the first time in a long time, I'm seething with jealousy over all the new HD DirecTV has added lately.

My question is, what are the DirecTV DVRs like?

In particular, I have a 622 triple tuner HD DVR. I can record ( and do a few nights a week) shows on two satellite channels and one OTA channel at the same time. I also have an external 500GB disk attached via USB that I keep many movies on.

Does DirecTV have a comparable DVR?

I'm looking into all the issues/costs of making the switch.

D* HR20 is the one you want, however it will record 2 things at a time, not 3.
I love mine, excellent unit, it's done even more than I expected.

And you can connect an external HD, but it replaces the internal one rather than working with it, and it has to be eSATA, not USB.

I was hoping for worse news!

I also noticed DirecTV has my local CW in HD. Smallville and Supernatural are the main reasons I'm still using rabbit ears.

I think I may end up waiting until after the holidays though, they're coming fast. Maybe Dish will come up with a Christmas miracle and catch up to you guys. If not, I'll be taking the dive.
