IF they aren't outdated and you can find someone to pay for them.

Misstating things is just the wrong way to look at it.
You can get a DVR, cheaply and simply.
Say you have 2 TVs, if you want to save some money, get 2 211k's.
No DVR fee at all, other than a one time HD enabling fee.
Then $7/month (I think) for the 2nd one.
There - Done!! 2 DVRS, no DVR fee at all!!
You're welcome!
Technically they aren't, but by adding an external Hd and paying a one time enabling fee, they become one. If one tuner is enough, it is an excellent option to consider for a bedroom or some such.
That's how you tell them what they cannot charge you for, not the other way around.Sure you do. You leave.
I'm not sure why the DVR fee jumps to $10 when you add a ViP922, but it seems to.I have a PURCHASED 922 and a 722. Because I have these two receivers, I pay (like everyone) $27 a month for the privilege of using them.

Because it's supposedly their flagship, top of the line product. More bells and whistles. Never mind some of the older bells and whistles don't quite work any more. I really is a "because we can" fee. Sigh.I'm not sure why the DVR fee jumps to $10 when you add a ViP922, but it seems to.
As for getting a break because you purchased the DVRs outright, that hasn't been the case with DISH Network nor DIRECTV for some time. Both charge the same monthly hardware fees whether owned or leased.
Theres no guarantee E wouldnt start charging a fee on 211s.,......
I created a chart comparing comparable packages and setups between Dish and Direct. These prices do not include promotions, upfront costs, nor additional programming, and HD is assumed to be paid (not the free for life with either company). With just about every setup, Dish is slightly better in price than Direct. Even though DVR fees and additional receiver/DVR fees are higher than Direct, total price is still less with Dish in most cases.

And if you use two hddvrs that are nearly equivalent to the hrs from d*, the 612 you save $10 more per month and the dvr fee is $4 less.
But if you went with Directv you would be paying more for your programing pack than with DISH. Less on the additional receive by 12.00, but when you add it all up would you save any more money?
Directv two hd dvrs
68.99 Total choice
10.00 hd pack
07.00 dvr fee
03.00 Multi room viewing
05.00 additional receiver fee
--------------------------------
93.99
DISH one 922 & one 722k
64.99 top 250
00.00 Hd for life if you already had hd +plat pack
10.00 Sling/ dvr fee
17.00 additional receiver fee
---------------------------------
91.99
So you would pay $2.00 less for comparable pack and dvrs with DISH.
Now compare the same two companies with Directv's Premier pack and DISH's AEP+ Multi-sports pack(comparable to Premier)
Directv two dvrs
114.99 Premier pack
10.00 hd pack
07.00 dvr fee
03.00 Mrv
05.00 additional receiver fee
-------------------------------
139.99
DISH 922 and 722k dvrs
99.99 Aep
00.00 Hd for life
10.00 sling /dvr fee
07.00 Multi -sports pack
17.00 additional receiver fee
---------------------------------
133.99
DISH still 6.00 cheaper on two dvrs than DIRECTV.

Thanks for the reality check. The bottom line is that DISH/SATS is no longer the "best" deal for their "best" customers. The feejacking (taken from the SatelliteGuys.US dictionary) has gotten out-of-control.HD is free with Choice ultimate and Premiere: Comparable costs apples to apples:...
