Next week, HD-Net is finally repeating episodes 2 and 3 of Bikini Destinations from 2002 (probably amongst the very first HD programs).

For some reason, each time they have repeated the series over the past 3 1/2 years (when I first obtained HD), they have skipped episodes 2 and 3. The only common denominator is that the two episodes featured "thebikininetwork.com" and perhaps there was some legal reason for not showing the eps (probably a requirement to make further payments if they were re-aired) until 2011.

Anyway, the schedule is:

Episode 1 - Hawaiian Tropic calendar shoot in Hawaii - January 4 at 5am Eastern TIme
Episode 2 - thebikininetwork.com calendar shoot in Bahamas - January 5 at 5am Eastern TIme
Episode 3 - thebikininetwork.com shoot at Lake Powell - January 6 at 5am Eastern TIme
Episode 4 - Hawaiian Tropic shoot in Las Vegas - January 7 at 5am Eastern TIme

and new episodes

I agree, the Walberg one is lame... I have the Voom versions as well, but have plenty of EHDD space for these on drive #5 or #6, whichever I decide.

Unfortunately, HD-Net did not broadcast the 2002 Bikini Destinations episodes described in detail in the Guide listings, but instead broadcast the equivalent numbered 2004 "Bikini Destinations the Wild Side with Art Mann" episodes. (So, if you DVR-ed the broadcasts, they do not match the Guide information of the recordings. But they are still entertaining viewing.)

A Brief History:

In 1997, E! Channel debuted Wild On E!, a "travel" show which went one step further than the influential British travel show "Rough Guide" (which always included the best nightlife amongst the attractions featured in each city or country), by focusing on resorts and their party scenes. This was emphasized by having bikini models as hosts - and the show's popularity peaked between 1999 and 2002 when Brooke Burke (now co-host of Dancing With the Stars) was the host. The co-host (and comic relief) of "Wild On" was E! stalwart, Art Mann.

So, when the end of the first season of "Bikini Destinations" coincided with the demise of "Wild On!", HD-Net and Bikini Destinations hired Art Mann to do a season combining the two concepts as "Bikini Destinations the Wild Side".

At the end of that season, HD-Net hired Art Mann to do his own show, Art Mann Presents, which covers the party scene wherever it occurs in the US, and Bikini Destinations returned to its original format of Playboy-esque photo shoots in resorts, combined with scenes of life in the resorts as experienced by the models.
