Unusual combination of insightful philosophy and spectacular action.

(And a "reference point" for many of those currently in the 25-44 age bracket.)

Yes, while technically you are covered by the disclaimer, it would be good if you could check the Guide Info which states (HD) or not - and the info is now usually correct for Premium Channels.

For example, unfortunately Duck Soup is not listed as (HD) in the Guide Info, so it is likely just upconvert.

In the case of a 4x3 black-and-white film, that is probably not far from a true HD transfer, but with more modern films, you can get problems.

For example, Cinemax-HD recently showed "Barton Fink". This was not an HD transfer, but was not listed as (HD) in the Guide Info, so fair enough, it has undoubtedly not yet been transfered to HD.

However, what Cinemax-HD did is to just upconvert the Cinemax-SD feed. The SD feed was a pan-and-scan "full screen" cropping. So the Cinemax-HD showing was 4x3 even though the film is widescreen... i.e. worse than the DVD...

Dazed and Confused 8:14 pm 7/10

This film is notable for being one of the only films to accurately depict the mid-70's (the other is "Almost Famous") - which were significantly different than either the 60's or the late 70's disco era (as seen in "That 70's Show").

Otherwise, it is a well done and unpretentious teen movie about high school (cf "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" for 80's and "American Graffiti" for early 60's).
