I have a Dish DVR 625 dual tuner receiver. Tuner 2 has very poor reception on some channels, but Tuner 1 is fine. It's not a cable problem - if I switch the input cables, Tuner 2 is still the one with poor reception. Anybody seen this before? I am told this model of receiver is known to have this problem, but nobody can tell me if there's a fix for it.

Is TV2 conected to an LCD, Plasma or LED. If it is the picture is going to be awful. SD signal into an HD TV is the most common cause of complaints about picture quality. When you said you "switched input cabes" what did you mean? Did you conect your tv1 to the tv2 output? More info is going to be helpful to get you fixed up.
No, neither TV is plasma etc. TV 1 is a projection, TV 2 is a flat screen tube, both are coaxial input. Here's as much detail as I can give:
We live in a condo complex, two dishes, and DP34 switches outside, with two output cables running from the switches to each apartment. Those two cables go directly into my dual tuner receiver. On certain channels, e.g. Spike 168, if I go to the installation/signal meter screen, I have quite a reasonable signal from tuner 1, but if I switch to tuner 2 the signal drops to 10-12% (on a good day) and 0% most other days. Likewise for Nick Jr. 169 (my son's favorite channel!) and a few others. If I switch the two cables in the back of the receiver (i.e. the cable going to input 1 is moved to input 2 and vice versa), then check the signal strength again, tuner 1 is still good and tuner 2 is still weak or non-existent. It seems to be limited to certain transponders on the 119 satellite that are weaker than others. Other channels (e.g. those on 119 transponder 20) work fine on both tuner 1 and tuner 2 - even though there is a drop in signal strength it is still strong enough to get good reception. Hopefully I've explained the problem well enough - thanks in advance for any help.
Yes, OP is talking about tuners (inputs) not TV1/TV2 (outputs).
If you have the service plan (AKA DHPP) call Dish and get a replacement for little or nothing. Without the plan, call Dish and see what they'll offer. Might be a good time to look at moving to a ViP series receiver.

Replacing the receiver is not likely going to correct the problem because there is probably nothing wrong with the receiver. It sounds like a signal issue, in which case upgrading to a VIP receiver would likely worsen the problem. Signal issues can arise from faulty lnbs and switches, low freq connections, and improper cable. Do you know the difference between RG6 and RG59 cable? It's usually marked on the side. Can you tell what it is? Go to the system info screen - Menu 6-1-3. What numbers are in box b?
