DVR 501, Record Off the Air?

I have the original Dish recorder, 40 hour capacity. Will it record from an Off the Air Antenna?

I watch so little TV and Dish keeps raising the rates I'm inclined to just pull the plug on Dish.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't call the 501 "the original Dish Recorder". There were earlier models. But the answer to your question is no.. No OTA tuner in the 501 so it can't record off air.

Actually it was DISH and Microsoft. And though it was very problematic at introduction many are still running with much larger Hard Drives.

Call DISH and request a transfer to an "account specialist" DISH has an "Essential Service" for $9.99 that includes 20 services with locals it should run about $15 before taxes.

Finally did the switch to Essentials Service this morning. No need for an account specialist. I think that knowing the name of the package was key. The $5 downgrade fee was waived when I "threatened" to cancel the service. So $14.99/mo with locals. I'm very pleased.
