New HD user. Currently using component connection. Is DVI cable worth it? Any recommendations? Are all DVI's created equal?

Don't waste your money on Monster brand, or almost any other so-called "premium" brand. Anything over $20 is wasted.

Almost any DVI-D cable will do just fine. A ton are available online or at local computer retailers for under $20.

If your using a fixed pixel display (Plasma, LCD, DLP, LCOS) a DVI connection can provide a small but noticable improvement in PQ.

I second Gary's recommendation. Don't spend more than $20 - $25 on a cable.

I'm using a rear projection Sony 47".

Unless you need to free up a component input for something else, I doubt you'll see enough difference to justify the change. IMHO
