Dual Link DVI Best for Pic Quality on Mits 656813: Shouldn't matter

If you guys want the best picture use a dual link dvi cable. It surpasses single link dvi in term of pic quality. I have my voom connected via component on one input and via Dual link dvi on other and the detail in so much more sharper via dvi when i do a side by side comparison. My Tv is Rptv Mitsubishi 656813 Diamond. I know myth is that if sets are analog that pic is same via dvi or component, there is a stark difference. Only thing i had to do was use perfect color to enhance some of the colors individually, and wov, the pic is unbelievable, like watching a movie in a theatre . Use dual link dvi

If there is that much of a difference then you are getting interference on the component or your TV doesn't do a good job of convergence from analog to digital. Theoretically there shouldn't be a noticable difference between the two as they both have the same bandwidth capabilities.

Although the difference between DVI and component connections is significant (on some TV sets more than on others), I am very skeptical about any advantages of dual link vs. single link as it applies to VOOM. My current understanding is that the dual link only helps if you have a resolution well above 1080i or 720p. I am not even sure that the second link is supported by the STB at all.

Again, if someone has any facts that prove otherwise, please let us all know. So far I haven't seen any.

Of course, since dual link cables are backward-compatible and don't cost much more, there is nothing wrong with buying them...

Your perpetuating a myth. Single, dual or optical DVI. Don't mean a hill of beans if the length required and the specs indicate it supports the bandwidth required. The symptoms of a poor DVI cable are lack of synch or sparklies. If it synchs and no sparklies are present...then your good to go whether you spend $20 or $500 on the cable.

Voom uses single link, but a dual link cable will work. Single link cables have twice the length w/o problems than dual link (HDMI is much better in the length department).

For what it is worth, I use Dual Link cables all around but keep lengths to the minimum. If you have a long length, use single length.

Again for what it is worth, the component out looked much better with my plasma, and I have not tried DVI with my projector.
