I don't have the link to the source (Home Media Magazine), but a very reliable poster on another forum posted this interesting bit of info concerning the sales of the top selling titles from Warner & Paramount, released on both blu-ray & HD DVD simulataneously:
Red of course is the sales ratio for HD DVD, blue for Blu-ray.
Fairly close ratios - and certainly no incentive for either studio to stop releasing on both formats. In fact, I'd say I makes a case for the exclusive studios missing out on a lot of potential sales.
Home Media Magazine has been publishing an aggregate hidef sales list for some weeks now. This allows us to compare sales of the same title when it is released on both formats, provided they enter the charts.
This is the relative sales ratio, during applicable launch week:
04/24: Planet Earth 1.36:1
05/01: Dreamgirls 1.53:1
05/15: The Fountain 1.50:1
05/22: Letters from Iwo Jima 1.21:1; Flags of Our Fathers 1.39:1
