Hmmm thank you very much for the info! I just checked the website and they do have it.

I think I will only have locals on Dish though. Then in May when HBO promo is over I'll think about this more. Thank you for the info!

EDIT: I feel so stupid now! I should have asked them how much it was for locals only. I thought it would be 23 but its 28! They mentioned another fee I didn't think of. They mentioned a tv 2 fee because of the 722. They also had to remove HBO because I didn't have any basic programming. ughh!! I should cancel and buy the DTVPAL DVR.

Several retailers have stopped selling the DTVPal DVR because of the numerous complaints about lockups and re-boots. Some users have reported that using ferrite chokes or UPSs have improved the reliability of the device, but there is still no definitive answer as to what is causing the problems or how to fix them. And there is no indication from Dish that a firmware upgrade is in the works.

If you want one and are willing to take your chances with the no-return-for-refund policy, you better hurry before they are completely off the market.

On a positive note, since there is no subscription fee or service provided by Dish, the unit should continue to function even if Dish discontinues production.

DTVPAL DVR now sold out.

I tried ordering the DTVPal DVR on 2/15. I was told it would ship the next day and to expect it within a week. The charge showed up on my card within the week, but nothing arrived. I called on 2/23 and was told it could take up 10 days to arrive but I would have it by 3/2.

I came home tonight and still nothing so I called again and am now told it did not ship but would go out today, and arrive within 7 to 10 days. When I asked for a tracking number the rep put me on hold, and when he came back said
it is now sold out and they are crediting back my card.

He did offer to take $10.00 a month off my bill for the next 12 months, but it seems they should have a better idea of what is going on.

The DTVpal website now shows only the DTV Pal plus as available. Everything else shows sold out.
