Does anyone know anything about the Off-Air Antenna that DTV is offering now? Is it any good or am I better off going with something else? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I don't know what DTV is offering but I just hooked up my Winegard Squareshooter yesterday and I'm pretty blown away. I'm picking up stations that I didn't know existed and my local CBS HD looks better than the DirecTV CBS HD feed. It's worth the extra few bucks to get the amplified version.

I am about 12 miles away from the transmitters according to antennaweb.org.

I have the Zenith Silver Sensor thing. Unamplified.

I get very weak signal on regular UHF analog, but all HD channels come in from 90-99%. I even pick up a Flagstaff station which is about a 1.5 hour drive up the hills. I am not sure how it gets any of that but it is pretty amazing.

What is your distance to the transmitters? You certainly do not need anything fancy, if you are within like 40 miles i think an amplified version will just cost you more. In chicago here we are about 26.8 miles from the transmitters and have a 16 year old UHF directional in the attic that picks everything off of the hancock building.

I am also blown away by the ability of these little chunks of metal to pick up such gorgeous reception!

I have a Directv provided Winegard Sensar. It works pretty well.

Was that included in the free upgrade you got for HD Jason? Is the $300 price or whatever it is for the HTL HD include the antenna?

I bought my silver sensor for like $25 bucks I think. You will be surprised that a 30 year old UHF antenna works fine.

Those winegards are pretty sexy. Where do you have it located? Is it hidden behind the TV or something? Kind of cool that it is like a flat thing. The Zenith I have looks like a art deco rake.

Nope, as it currently resides (at our house we're about to move out of) it's on the same mast as the phase-3 dish. It sits about 3 feet above the dish. I am going to try to keep it the same at the new place.

I get my OTA with an RCA amplified indoor antenna. It was like $25 bucks at Target. It gets all my local HD channels.
