as posted by scob at dbstalk, I don't know why D* hasn't said anything yet, but here's the link to the MTV HD website:

http://www.mhd.tv/

click on the link that says get mhd, enter your zip code and if you choose DirecTV in the dropdown menu, it will tell you that they are signed to launch soon on D*.

Can anyone else confirm that directv is picking this up?

Pay attention to the site! Its not literally saying were getting MHD! It specifically says they will ask D* to add it to their lineup! Just like TNT-HD did for 16 months!

Local cable for me is cox also, however, something to note - is that if you put in E* - there are no agreements yet. Food for thought.

So, MTV will have a HD music channel...wow a music channel for the MTV networks...un heard of.,....

How long will it stay music....

if its like MTV2 which was marketed as "All Music, All the Time" when it was first lurched... about 8 months.

why have a news channel in HD? Most the news clips from around the country will have to be in SD anyway.

By 2098, DirecTV should have SUPER DUPER HIGH ULTIMATE ULTRA HIGH DEF with Smell-o-vision. I don't think anyone will appreciate the addition.
