Carey continued, "In many ways, the results in the quarter reflect our strategy to target higher quality subscribers. For example, although gross subscriber additions of 863,000 and net additions of 125,000 in the quarter were below expectations, it's important to note that we added 11% more higher quality gross subscribers in the quarter compared to last year.

Sounds Rather sad to me ..Murdoch continues to run DirecTV into the ground

What is outrageous is they had a churn of almost 3/4million subscribers in the second quarter. 863,000 minus 125,000 is 738,000 subscribers they lost.

Why? Poor HDTV programming, expensive programming packages, poor CSRs or VERY VERY COMPETETIVE cable companies.

863,000 gross - 125,000 net = 738,000 existing subs lost.

Or to state it differently they got 863,000 new customers and lost 738,000 existing customers and that makes a gain of 125,000 customers overall. That's not a bad gain! I think their still weeding out some of their "problem" customers and that accounts for some of the churn but 125,000 net gain ain't bad! Do that for 4 quarters and that's a net gain of 500,000 for a year.

But they have been averaging over a MILLION CUSTOMERS A YEAR GAIN. That is an attrocious CHURN and very costly to the corporation.

R15 changing channel to record 5 minutes beforehand?

Is this a multiswitch problem? (wrong channels)
