OK. Here's the deal. I have a working, subscribed 922, and just got a HD200 and a Coolsat 8000 from E-Bay. I have a 10 foot small mesh dish with C/KU lnbs that works great even on X4 KU. I have the 1.2 Meter dish with a Norsat 8115 lnb that the very kind Red23eye gave me:up along with a Pansat 2300 and the Traxis DBS 3500.
Whew! What a mouthful!!
Now, I've got a bunch of questions.
First off, since I got the Coolsat, is there any reason to hang on to the other two receivers? From what I have read, it seems to be at the top of the pile for the most part. Iceberg's review said that it did not have "blind search", but I do not fully understand that term yet. Looking through the manual, it does have a function called "Auto Scan", which will scan a given bird for available channels. I ask this, because if I don't need them, I will offer them to someone here. Freely they came, freely they shall go.
Next, does it make sense to use the big dish for both receivers? Aren't all the birds in the same arc? Would I be able to program them into the 922 and use it as the mover? I do have the capability of moving the small dish as well, if it is better applied there. It will simply be less "stuff" if I don't need the other dish.
Then, if I do need the small dish to get other feeds and such, how do I go about getting both C and Ku bands with it? On the big dish, I have a dual lnb setup, and I understand that setup and how it works. I don't have a clue how the small dish works, in spite of reading nearly every post on this site.
There, how about that for a start? I am sure to have more questions as we proceed with this nightmare. Thanks in advance to everyone for helping a Newbie to FTA out.
