Dp-34 Problems

I Am Pretty Sure I Am Hooking These Up Correctly,
Dp 500 Twin With A 508 Receiver And I Just Added A 311 Receiver,
The Receivers Work With The Original Sw 23 Switch Of Corse One At A Time,
But I Have Now Purchased Two Dp 34 Switches On E-bay Claiming To Be Brand New An I Have The Same Problem With Both,
I Install, Unplug, Restart, Check Switch, Try Different Inputs, And I Get The Receivers To See The Switch But There Is No Signal At All Coming Into The Switch, It Tells Me To Check Connections, But Those Same Connectors Work Just Fine With The Sw 23 Switch,
I Dont Know What To Try Next.
Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated,

Welcome to Satellite guys.
I never heard of a sw23 but hey you never know.
If you have a dp twin on a 500 that is aimed properly you should not need a dp34.
Just run one line off of the twin to the 508 and another to the 311.
Run your check switch and your fine. However if for some reason you want to use a dp34 run two lines two the dp34 input side, one from each side of the twin. Leave the third input to the dp34 empty unless you want to see a third Sat.

Then run two lines from the output of the dp34, one to your 508 and one to ur 311.
Again However the dp34 is not needed unless you are just experimenting.

Just don't forget to run a check switch after each time you change things.

I am guessing that you meant sw21 switch instead of sw23 switch. How many satellites are you going to be pointing at or do you only need to add the 311 receiver? Do the outputs of the Dish500 lnbf's have one output on each one or two? If both of those lnbf's are legacy then it will not work with the DP-34 switch. You would have to also buy DP lnbf's to get them to work with the DP-34 switch. You only want to do that if you need a third orbital location but I am guessing that you do not. You could have just bought a DP twin which has the built in switch and been done with it. You cannot mix and match DishPro lnbf's and switches. The cheapest route at this point is to buy an additional sw-21 switch which is usually $15 or less if you got dual output lnbf's.

Yeah - this might be yet another case of "I don't know the difference between a Dual and a Twin". OP should double-check what he's got, for sure!

What makes me think he has two dual lnbf's with the legacy sw-21 switch is that he indicates that there is an sw switch (although the wrong number) and he bought two DP-34 switches because he thinks he has to have two new switches for his two receivers. If he had a twin then he would not need the sw-21 switch as it would work straight from the twin whether it be legacy or DP.

It Says Dish 500 And Has Two Separate Lnbfs One For 110 And One For 119
It Used A Sw 21 For My 508 Receiver And Now I Want To Add The Second Receiver A 311 On That Same Dish, I Was Told By A Dish Net Tech That I Needed To Use A Dp 34 Switch And I Have Tried Both Dp 34 Switches I Have And They Do Not Want To Let The Signal Through The Switch Says To Check Connections But When I Put The Sw 21 Back On It Works Fine,

You need a second SW-21 if you have two dual LNBs on your dish 500. If the 2 LNBs aren't duals you need a Legacy Twin to replace the LNBs that are on your dish.

Dish Pro 34 switches only work with Dish Pro LNBs. Dish Pro LNBs will have black DPs on the side away from the dish.

Dish Network was wrong. Someone is off their rocker there. Looks like they cost you some money. I'd call them back and tell them about what one of the CSR's told you on the phone and how they cost you money telling you what they did. I doubt they would do anything though to make up for it. Contact ceo@dishnetwork.com and tell them what was told to you if the CSR on the phone does nothing for you. Talk to a Supervisor if you have to as well. They will most likely ask who you talked to and I doubt that you have that information. This goes to show how bad the service is from the CSR's. I suggest you come on these forums to ask questions as we probably know a bit more than a lot of the CSR's on the phone.

You could resell your DP-34's and buy the sw-21 which would be the cheapest route. You could also buy a twin lnbf that has the switch built in but it will cost you more than what a sw-21 switch would. If you only have one output on each of those lnbf's then you will have to either buy two dual lnbf's and an sw-21 switch or buy a twin lnbf (can be DP or legacy).

And I Think It Will Fix My Problem, But I Was Wondering If Anyone Knows If It Will Work With The Same Mounting Bracket I Have On The Dish, Or If I Will Have A New Problem,

It will work.

Dish was wrong in telling him to get the 34 but dish does not keep any records on theyr computer system as to what kind of lnbf's and switch's a customer has in theyr home.

Yes if you get a Dish Pro Twin it will solve your problems, and as Van said it will work on your dish.

Do you get locals in your area? If so you could just get an upgrade to get the dish with more outputs for free but you would have to pay for the locals and sign a one year contract in some cases. If you would have to pay an upgrade fee then you would not save any money anyways.

Dish Pro or Legacy Twin will work with your receivers since Dish Pro receivers work with eitiher one. I would think that a Legacy Twin would be cheaper though.

I always tell my customers to call me before calling Dish because of the problems they create and the wrong info they give to people. I tell them that they do not know nearly as much as I do and I can solve any problem that they have and if it is a billing issue I will try to assist them any way I can to at least explain what charges are on the bill.
