Doom Day: Dec 21, 2012? Any comments about it?

I am half way through the History channel program on this one. They get various sources that predict a very signicant change will take place on this date. Astronomy has revealed an unsual alignment that will take place on this date (winter soltice of 2012). Any information of what you heard or read?

The only thing I've heard about is the Mayan calendar ending.

I try not to think about this stuff, as this is all speculation. When the time comes it will come.
